Lonely Planet has released its much-anticipated list of travelers (regular and mental) of the best trips to take in the new year.

To be precise, these are 5 different lists: countries, cities, sustainable destinations, regions and value for money destinations, i.e. destinations that are “worth” their money.

The world travel “guide”, suggests a surprise country for our next big trip.

THE Mongolia It ‘s in the top of the top 10 countries list to visit in 2024 for its vast lands, adventure activities and distinctive culinary and music culture.

“Sandwiched between Russia and China, Mongolia appears difficult to reach given recent geopolitical events in its two major neighbors. But Mongolia’s doors are open and a tourism campaign has eased visa restrictions until 2025,” the report said.

The island of Ikaria is in 7th place on the list of the best value for money destinations.

“Ikaria captivates with its blue-green waters and wild landscapes, as well as with the independent spirit of the inhabitants and the culture of the island with festivals reminiscent of rave parties” writes Lonely Planet.

“Follow the paved coastal road to explore the island and visit Ikarian villages full of food, wine and traditional dances” suggests the article with must see Seychelles beach and the thermal baths of Spilia.
