Fans of Reese Witherspoon, 45, were outraged by the retouching they considered exaggerated on a photo of her for the cover of InStyle magazine. According to them, the publication left the actress unrecognizable by trying to make her look younger.
On the cover, the actress appears wearing a sexy Dolce & Gabbana bodysuit and shorts, with her hair combed out in a fuller style. She wore smoky eye makeup to look more daring than usual.
“Has she approved this edition? That doesn’t look like her,” asked one person. “Come on, as if she needed some retouching! Just take a nice picture,” commented another netizen.
“Unrecognizable. What have you done to this beautiful woman,” wrote a third reader. “This is a horrible retouch! I thought it was her daughter,” complained another. “Honestly, it’s painful to see. She’s beautiful [na vida real]. Leave your face alone. It’s harmful – and sends the wrong message,” criticized yet another netizen.
The reaction was so great that the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Laura Brown, was forced to intervene, closing the criticisms in the comments section. “For those who comment on the retouching, the strategy was [passar a imagem] super sexy, a heavy eye and big hair,” said the journalist.
Brown added: “You rarely see Reese like this – that was the point. We’re not in the business of embalming women at InStyle. Please feel free to view Reese’s human-shaped video post below.”
The actress seems not to have bothered with the controversies and criticisms. She shared the cover of InStyle on her own Instagram thanking the publication. “Thanks for putting me on the cover of this month! Thanks so much to the creative team,” she said.
