A live-action movie based on the hit video game series “The Legend of Zelda” is in the production stage, as confirmed by Japanese giant Nintendo after the huge success of the film “Super Mario Bros” grossing over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Wes Ball, known from the trilogy “The Maze Runner” and the new action film “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” will sign the direction of the major production, in which the video game giant will join forces with Sony Pictures Entertainment, who will also handle the worldwide distribution.

Japanese “Legend of Zelda” creator Shigeru Miyamoto will produce alongside former Marvel Studios head and Oscar-winning “Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse” producer Avi Arad.

“I have been working for many years on the live-action film of ‘The Legend of Zelda’ with Avi Arad, who has created many blockbuster films,” Miyamoto said in a statement on X, formerly Twitter. “It will take time to complete, but I hope you can’t wait to see ithe added.
