Taylor Swift kicked off her concerts at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Friday night, November 17, 2023, and was captured throwing a water bottle at a fan in the audience.

During her performance of “All Too Well,” the singer grabbed the bottle from the stagehand and threw it into the crowd.

Viral fan video of the incident was captioned: “Taylor throws a water bottle at a fan in need of help while singing All Too Well #RioTSTheErasTour.”

However, hours later, it was revealed that a 23-year-old girl, Ana Benevides, died during the concert after she fainted due to extreme heat in the stadium, which reached temperatures of over 37 degrees Celsius, according to local sources.

Swift issued a statement in which she expressed her grief over the death of Benevides, while expressing her condolences to the young girl’s family, as the “Daily Mail” writes. The 23-year-old is believed to have suffered a seizure, according to her cousin and local media. Doctors at the scene tried to revive her to no avail. He was taken to Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital, but died a short time later.

“I can’t believe I’m writing these words but we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this,” Swift wrote in an Instagram post.

“There is very little information that I have, except that she was incredibly beautiful and very young. I won’t be able to talk about it from the stage because I feel overwhelmed with grief when I even try to talk about it. I want to say that I feel this loss deeply and my thoughts are with her family and friends,” the singer wrote, among other things.
