Natalie Portman will complete 30 years of career in 2024. The actress, who is promoting the recently released film “Secrets of a Scandal (2023)”, in the United States, spoke about the difficulties of an artistic career and took a stand against child labor in Hollywood.

“I wouldn’t encourage young people to go into this career,” Portman said. “I’m referring to children and I feel almost like an accident, a stroke of luck that I didn’t end up damaged, even harmed. Furthermore, I had very protective and wonderful parents by my side. You don’t like that [da atenção dos pais] when he’s a child, but he’s grateful to them when he’s an adult,” he told Variety magazine.

She, who started as an actress in the classic ‘The Professional’ (1994), at the age of 12, didn’t want to delve too deeply into the subject. “I’ve heard too many bad stories to think it’s not a good idea for children to be part of this. I think children should play and go to school,” concluded the mother of two children, Aleph (12 years old) and Amalia (6 years old) , with French dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied.

Portman, 42, won the Oscar for best actress in 2011, for ‘Black Swan’ (2010). In “Secrets of a Scandal”, she plays the actress Elizabeth, who is preparing for a new role. In fiction, the character will play a woman named Gracie (Julianne Moore), famous for a sexual scandal with a young man. The film opens on January 18th in Brazilian cinemas.
