“Europe is faced with serious geopolitical, economic and social challenges” Nikos Androulakis pointed out in his statement at the conference of the European Socialist Party in Amsterdam.

Its president PASOK – Movement for Change he emphasized that “the only solution is a progressive plan, with solidarity and mutual understanding”. He noted that during yesterday’s meeting with the president of the European Council, Antonio Costa conveyed PASOK’s point of view, “that Russian revisionism cannot be treated in different terms in relation to Turkish revisionism”.

“That is why for us any participation of Turkey in the European Defense Architecture is unthinkable” he underlined, to emphasize that “a country that threatens Greece with war and illegally owns 40% of Cyprus cannot discuss that it can become a member of the SAFE program”.

Mr. Androulakis called it “very important that the European Socialists set the goal of a new Recovery Fund at their conference”. “A financial tool” he said “that will strengthen the European economies, reduce inequalities and we will have more competition compared to third countries”.

He also noted that “it is also very important that, at the initiative of the Socialists, the issue of housing is included in the agenda at the next European Council. An issue that has created many problems, especially for the younger generations.”

Finally, Mr. Androulakis emphasized that the initiatives of the European Socialists “show another path for the Union, a path of solidarity and prosperity of all European peoples”.
