Before André 3000, the record for longest-running song on the Hot 100 was held by Tool’s single ‘Fear Inoculum’
André 3000 has broken the record for the longest running song included in the Billboard Hot 100. According to Billboard, the average length of a song on this chart is three minutes and 15 seconds.
Many songs on the chart exceed three minutes and 15 seconds, although none are as long as the “I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a “Rap” Album But This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time”.
The song is from his new album, New Blue Sun. The LP, released earlier this month, is the first solo album in 17 years for André, who is a member of the duo Outkast. To the surprise of some of his fans, the project is entirely instrumental with an emphasis on the sound of the flute.
The song peaked at No. 90 on the Hot 100, Billboard reported. Before André 3000, the record for longest-running song on the Hot 100 was held by Tool’s 2019 single “Fear Inoculum” from their self-titled album.
Previously the second, but now third, longest-running song on the Hot 100 is Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” (10 minutes and 13 seconds).
