A tone of spirituality as well as fairytale in this year’s Christmas celebrations with Mozart’s operatic swan song
Theatrical costumes, make-up, lighting, symbolic objects and popular lyrical performers, such as the high-voiced Christina Poulitsi and the deep-voiced Christoforos Stamboglis, recreate Mozart’s operatic swan song in “The Magic Flute” giving a tone of spirituality as well as fairy tale to this year’s Christmas celebrations.
Her performance “Magic Flute”. State Orchestra of Athens will be held December 21 and 22 at the Megaro Musikis, directed by Isidoros Sideris and music directed by Katias Molfesi.
Musicians, dancers, actors and singers will collaborate on stage serving the drama spectacularly.
According to the production, the timeless appeal of Mozart’s “Magic Flute” is naturally due to perfection and expressiveness of his music encompassing the full range of human emotions with the music soaring above them touching the divine as it has been said.
But a serious share of the enormous success that the play has known over time, is due to the meaningful content of the libretto signed by the versatile German (actor, dramatist, singer and composer) Emanuel Schkanender – who had also worked with Haydn, Salieri and Beethoven.
The libretto, in a slick, symbolic way, expresses the ever-present humanitarian ideals of the European Enlightenment. Let’s not forget that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is the composer who with the “Magic Flute” brings the fairy tale to reality.
