Billy Joel is one of the most famous American singer-songwriters of all time. The New York-born singer grew up on Long Island, where a new exhibit honoring his life and art titled “My Life: A Piano Man’s Journey”.

The exhibit, hosted at the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF), features five decades of Billy Joel memorabilia, much of it donated by the artist himself from his collection. Among the memorabilia are musical instruments, awards and photographs, along with recordings and videos.

Visitors can learn about Billy Joel’s development and music production, as well as his personal life.

The exhibit was designed by Kevin O’Callaghan, who also created the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame.

I think he was the boy next door in Long Island” said Kevin O’Callaghan on the NY1 channel emphasizing that everyone who spoke with him during the preparation of the exhibition had nice stories to tell about the artist.

It was heartwarming to see a long line of fans at our grand opening,” said LIMEHOF President Ernie Candeo. “More than 500 fans of all ages, many from overseas, enjoyed the exhibition from families with young children to middle-aged and older adults. Established in 2004, the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is an organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island’s musical heritage is an important resource that should be celebrated and preserved for future generations.
