Hootie & The Blowfish singer Darius Rucker thanked his colleagues during a ceremony on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to mark the acquisition of his own star and described the honor as “the most important thing that has happened to him”.
The three-time Grammy winner was honored in the recording category after scoring a hit with Hootie & The Blowfish’s debut album in 1994, before becoming a country music star, releasing his first music project in 2008.
Darius Rucker thanked Mark Bryan, Dean Felber and Gene “Sonny” Schonefeld for forming the band while studying at the University of South Carolina and are set to return to the road with their Summer Camp With Truck tour next year .

“We have been together for 16 years” he said. “I’ve been in two bands in my life, Hootie & The Blowfish and my country band – I want to thank those guyshe emphasized.
Referring to his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the 57-year-old continued: “These are things you don’t dream about when you’re from South Carolina and you’re struggling growing up, I just wanted to be a singer… I wanted to be a singer but you never dream that this thing will happen».
Rucker took time to thank his three children Caroline, Daniela and Jack. “They are my heart, my soul and everything I do, I do for them” he said.
