Stranger Things star Patrick Weil praised London theater audiences for being as “bold” as the shows he attends.

The actor is set to appear in the stage version of the TV hit as the mysterious scientist Dr. Martin Brenner, played by Matthew Modine in the Netflix series.

The New York-born actor, who previously appeared in the West End musical ‘Oklahoma!’ he took part in the Standard Theater Podcast and spoke about London’s theater tradition.

You know, you can tell that people are much more used to experimentation because they see more theater and it’s a matter of cost,” he said. “I mean obviously the cost is astronomical here too, but not as much as in New York” write down.

The play “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” takes place 20 years before the TV series and reveals the origin story behind the alternate reality universe known as the Upside Down.

The show will premiere on December 14.
