Hour after being admitted to the emergency room of a hospital in Barra da Tijuca, north of Rio, Stênio Garcia, 91, was discharged this Wednesday afternoon (6). The actor underwent several tests after vomiting and diarrhea and liver problems or a stroke were ruled out. According to Stênio’s personal doctor, Priscila Sobral, he has viral gastroenteritis.
“We did blood tests, electrocardiogram and tomography and the results were good. Our diagnosis is acute viral gastroenteritis and now he will continue treatment at home with lots of hydration”, explained Priscila to F5. Viral gastroenteritis is acute inflammation of the lining of the stomach and intestines caused by enteropathogenic viruses.
“It was just a scare. And what a scare. Stênio is much better and calmer. We are leaving the hospital and now we have to follow the medical recommendations. Lots of hydration, a diet with light foods, rest and medications such as antibiotics and medicine for nausea “, explains Mari Saade. “We have seen many cases of viral gastroenteritis in the hospital. We need to be careful,” she adds.
At the beginning of July, Stênio was hospitalized due to septicemia (generalized infection). A week earlier, he also ended up in hospital, after severe pain in his hip and legs, the result of inflammation in the sciatic nerve discovered a month earlier. At the same time, he had undergone facial harmonization and told the F5 who opted for the procedure to return to the screen.
