The films, “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” are the leading films in this year’s Golden Globe Awards nominations, with nine and eight nominations respectively.

Also, the films “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Poor Things” by Giorgos Lanthimos are among the contenders, with seven nominations each.

The ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on January 7.

On TV, “Succession” gets 9 nominations, “The Bear” like “Only Murders in the Building” 5 and “The Crown” is limited to 4.

Three of Barbie’s nine nominations are for best original song – namely Dua Lipa’s Dance The Night, Ryan Gosling’s I’m Just Ken and What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish.

Oppenheimer is nominated for cinematic and box-office achievement – a new category introduced for the 2024 ceremony, which aims to give greater recognition to films popular with audiences.

Christopher Nolan is nominated for Best Director, while Emily Blunt was also nominated for her supporting role in the film.

Cillian Murphy is one of six nominees for best actor in a drama for his role in the J Robert Oppenheimer biopic.

Other nominees in the category are Bradley Cooper in Maestro, Colman Domingo in Rusin and Andrew Scott in All of Us Strangers, due out in January.

In the television categories, Elizabeth Debicki in The Crown, Rosamund Pike in Saltburn and Meryl Streep for her role in Only Murders in the Building have been nominated for best supporting roles.

With 33 nominations, Meryl Streep holds the record for most Golden Globe nominations.

Taylor Swift also received her fifth nomination, this time in the new box office category, for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. Her previous nominations were all for Best Original Song.

Another newly added category for 2024 is Best Performance in Stand-up Comedy. Ricky Gervais, Trevor Noah and Amy Schumer are among the nominees.
