Historic fishing boat makes big screen debut in new hit movie Wonka. The boat “Lydia Eva” it was moved to Lyme Regis, Dorset, in southwest England for the filming of the scenes in which young Willy Wonka, played by Timothée Salamet, arrives in England. The steamer, built in King’s Lynn in the 1930shas now returned to its usual location in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk and is open to the public.

The ship’s manager, Ernie Artis, told the BBC that the film’s makers had contacted him during the Covid-19 pandemic, but at first he believed it was a “hoax”.

The ship was used by the film company for almost two months.

Ernie Artis said it was “interesting” to see the boat on screen and that it appears in the first few seconds of the film’s trailer.

He also hoped the ship, now famous thanks to the film, would attract people to Great Yarmouth.
