The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced the short-lists of nominees for 10 categories – a list of films that advance to the next phase of voting – a month before all nominations are revealed.

Today’s announcements are in the categories: International Feature Film, Documentary, Sound, Original Music, Original Song, Makeup and Hair, Visual Effects, Live Action Short, Documentary Short and Animated Short.

In general, the “favorite” films Killers of the Flower Moon, Barbie, Poor Things, Maestro were found in various categories.

“Barbie” led the shortlist with five nominations, “Killers of the Flower Moon” had four, while “The Color Purple,” “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things” received three nominations each.

Three songs from the movie “Barbie” are among the nominees on the list for Oscar for Best Original Song in 2024. Specifically Dua Lipa’s “Dance The Night”, “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and “I’m Just Ken” by Mark Ronson and Andrew White, performed by Ryan Gosling.

Olivia Rodrigo is nominated for her contribution to the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, the song “Can’t Catch Me Now”

Lenny Kravitz is on the list with “Road to Freedom” from the movie “Rustin” and Metro Boomin with “Am I Dreaming” the ending song of the animated movie “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”.
