Bobbie Jean Carter, sister of Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter, has passed away at the age of 41. The information was confirmed by People magazine and the website TMZ. The family had already lost Aaron Carter, Nick and Bobbie’s brother, 13 months ago.
She passed away this Saturday morning (23) in Florida, United States. Sources close to the Carters tell PEOPLE that the family believes Bobbie Jean died after suffering cardiac arrest, though additional details about what led to her death remain unclear.
The mother, Jane Carter, spoke to TMZ. “I am shocked to learn of the sudden death of my daughter, Bobbie Jean, and will need time to process the horrific reality of this happening for a third time. When I can think clearly, I will release a more complete statement; but until then, I ask to be left alone to grieve in private.”
“As much as a parent may feel the loss of a child, the suffering of a young child at the loss of a parent must be much greater. So, I ask those in solidarity to pray for my precious eight-year-old granddaughter, Bella, who has already lost his father and now he is also without his mother”, he added.
Bobbie Jean, also known as BJ, was somewhat involved in the family’s music business during the height of her brothers’ careers, especially Aaron, for whom she worked as a wardrobe stylist and makeup artist during their tours in the early 2000s.
BJ’s death marks yet another tragedy for the family as a whole. In addition to losing Aaron last November to a drowning in their home — which was drug-related — the Carters also lost their other sister, Leslie, in 2012 as a result of an overdose.
