Artist Yino Márques created the statue to represent Shakira’s popular dance move from her 2005 ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ music video.

Shakira shared photos of her parents happily posing in front of the statue.

In the caption of the post she made about the event, she expressed her joy to be able to share this moment with her family, and especially with her mother during her birthday.

She then shared snaps of her moment receiving the dedication, including snaps with her family and the local mayor.

In her posts, she expresses her gratitude for the honor bestowed upon her.

She wrote, “A heart that composes, hips that don’t lie, an unmatched talent, a voice that moves the masses and bare feet that march for the good of childhood and humanity.”
