Gaby Amarantos criticizes Pitty’s stance with Beyoncé: ‘The hole is much lower’

Singer Gaby Amarantos publicly criticized fellow singer Pitty after the Bahian said that Beyoncé, upon coming to Brazil, would have decided to play “Sister Dulce in the middle of Christmas”, remembering the first Brazilian saint.

Through social media, Gaby reinforced that she has a lot of admiration and friendship with Pitty, but that she decided to write the message as a black woman. “When you, as a white woman, question Beyoncé’s memorable stunt, you have to think many times before speaking,” she began.

“I think it’s important to speak out at this moment as an artist who understands the dimension and importance of Beyoncé having chosen to come in person to demonstrate all her love for her Brazilian fans. I would suggest taking a closer look at the work that her foundation has been doing for over 10 years in Brazil together with CUFA and without fear letting you know that it is not necessary to compare her work with anyone else’s, especially because if we go into the issue of ‘privilege’, black women lose out”, he added.

Gaby received some criticism from some internet users who called her a “jaguar friend” for publicly expressing her discontent. She answered. “People have a very distorted view of what true friendship is. Of course I reached out to her to talk privately, but as a black woman I feel obliged to bring this discussion to the public because the hole is much deeper. It is necessary to have courage to criticize a friend.”

Fans of singer Beyoncé criticized Pitty after the rocker mocked donations that the pop star made to Central Única das Favelas.

Faced with negative reactions, Pitty made a post saying he would take a break from social media. “A network detox here and the desire for spaces where we can really connect to debate, talk, evolve without implying hate or irony. Difficult conversations are part of life. Life is not a meme. Being light is not being frivolous” , she wrote. She later deleted the original post.
