Hello, Happy New Year everyone!”, the actor began enthusiastically. “All you revelers and drinkers, all of you have fun. Great! Happy New Year, have a good time” continued the beloved actor. “If you have a headache, remember me. I don’t get it anymore, because today I celebrate 48 years of sobriety. I got help for this and my life changed”.

I don’t envy you guys having fun out there,” said Anthony Hopkins, then encouraged people struggling with addiction to seek help. “But if you need help, there is a time. Life is ongoing. Go ahead“, he says meaningfully in the video.

Social media users took to the comments section, including fellow actor Josh Brolin, who wrote: “He is human! I love you and Happy 48th Birthday!».

Actress Melanie Griffith added a series of white heart emojis, while one fan wrote: “In 48 years of courage, resilience and transformation. Your journey is a testament to the power of recovery. Congratulations».

The composer has previously opened up about his journey to sobriety. He had stated:I’m a recovering alcoholic and for you out there, I know there are people struggling in this era of cancellation and hate and no compromise, kids who are bullied. I say to that: Be kind to yourself. Stay out of the cycle of toxicity with people if they offend you. Live your life. Be proud of your life».
