The Spanish woman who accuses former player Daniel Alves of rape is expected to sue his mother after having her face, name and private videos exposed on the social network. Last week, Maria Lúcia Alves challenged whether the woman was in fact weakened by showing videos of her having fun in bars in Spain.
In a note sent to El Periodico, her lawyer, Ester García, states that the dissemination of images or any information that allows the identification of a victim of sexual violence is a flagrant crime.
“Legal action will be taken against all people or media outlets that disseminate images of our client or provide any information, direct or indirect, that allows her identification,” he said.
The fact had repercussions in the international press, as until then, the woman’s name and face had not been revealed.
Just over a year ago, on the night of December 30, 2022, player Daniel Alves entered a nightclub in Barcelona, had sex in the bathroom of the VIP area and changed his life and career forever.
Whatever happened inside that space — a rape, according to the 23-year-old woman; a consensual act, according to him — caused the Brazilian to spend 345 of the 365 days of 2023 incarcerated. He is now awaiting trial, with a date set for February 5th.
