Anyone who claims they have never taken anything out of their hotel room as a “souvenir” is 99% lying.

Every year, hotels all over the planet, mainly 4-star and 5-star hotels, measure material losses, which they usually budget for.

Towels and bathrobes are the most common “stolen” but there are many who, when they decide to take some “souvenirs” from the room, aim for something… bigger.

According to the international luxury hotel rating website in Europe and Asia, Wellness Heaven, in 2023 the most stolen items from hotels by customers are towels (79.2%), bathrobes (66.4%), hangers (49.8 %), pens (41.8%) and cosmetics (36.5%).

Of course, there were also the more… daring ones who, among other objects, took with them works of art, tablets and mattresses, up to televisions.

Among the strangest finds on the list is a grand piano stolen from a hotel lobby in Italy and a toilet seat from a hotel in Berlin.

Also, at a hotel in France, a guest was caught trying to steal a wild boar’s head! Later, after he liked it so much, his friends bought the precious piece from the hotel and gave it to him as a wedding present!
