Six people between the ages of 57 and 79 were arrested last night in Rhodes by police officers of the Rhodes Security Directorateagainst whom a file of spontaneous proceedings was filed for carrying out and participating in illegal gambling. It is about the manager of a health care store and five customers – players.

In particular, after an evaluation of evidence, a surprise police check was carried out during which it was found that the manager of the business had organized the conduct of the illegal game “barbuti”which was taking place at a specially configured table where five players participated using dice and betting money.

The sum of 1,830 euros, two dice and improvised wooden and leather frames were seized.

Those arrested will be taken to the District Court of Rhodes.

The arrests are the result of operational planning and actions of the South Aegean Police Services that focus on combating the illegal conduct of games of chance.
