Lavagem do Bonfim, a festival as popular in Salvador as Carnival, is centuries old and, this Thursday (11), brings together thousands of people through the city’s streets. Among the crowd dressed in white are some famous people.
Sophie Charlotte says that this is the third time she has participated in the celebration and that the party is beautiful. She also said that the tradition was a gift she received when playing Gal Costa in “Meu Nome É Gal”. “I love the city”, she said in an interview with the newspaper iBahia.
The actress enjoyed her time in the city alongside Regina Casé. “Viva Nosso Senhor do Bonfim”, wrote Zoé’s interpreter in “Todas As Flores”.
Bahian, Carlinhos Brown posted a message of thanks on his official Instagram profile, and states that his faith moves him and allows him to carry out his work with devotion.
“May the Lord of Bonfim and Father Oxalá keep us. May the Holy Hill emanate from the Sacred Hill to our entire city, country and continents this energy of love deserved by all of us. Long live the Lord of Bonfim! Exuê Baba Miní! Epa Babá Pai Oxalá !”
The festival is religious and marked by syncretism. It brings together, side by side, the cult of Senhor do Bonfim by Catholics and the celebration of Oxalá by Candomblé followers.
Actor Roberto Bonfim was also present and says that Bahia makes him happy. “Thank you Lord of Bomfim!”
