Evaristo Costa, 47, remains hospitalized in the ICU of a hospital in the city of Cambridge, England, due to complications related to Crohn’s Disease, and with no expected discharge date.
The presenter updated his health status on social media this Monday (15), where he has been showing part of his routine at the hospital since last Friday (12).
In a story on Instagram, Evaristo stated, in a note released by his advisor, that there had been progress in his situation. But there is still no forecast for an increase.
“Evaristo Costa is making a clear recovery, without pain and in good spirits. Chron’s disease went into remission and the infection responded well to antibiotics”, says the note.
“Although it’s just good news, the doctors thought it best to continue with the intravenous medication, which is why the presenter is not yet expected to be discharged”, concludes the statement.
Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory disorder of the gastrointestinal tract. Evaristo Costa was diagnosed with the disease a few years ago. On Friday, he reported feeling severe abdominal pain, as well as diarrhea, fever and weight loss. “This all leads to weakness, fatigue,” he said.
The ex-Globo and ex-CNN Brasil said this week that this ends up leaving his body vulnerable. “Low immunity leaves my body open for viruses and bacteria to enter, as happened to my leg a month ago. If I don’t take care of myself, I can have complications such as anemia and serious infections.”
In November, the journalist had to be hospitalized and the diagnosis was erysipelas, a type of skin infection on the leg.
