Five years after releasing the song “Piloto”, in 2018, Flora Matos exploded onto Tiktok and reached the ranking of the most listened to songs on Spotify Brazil. The hit became a craze on the short video app, with fans doing the famous dances. In the lyrics, Flora describes the characteristics she looks for in a man.
“Capricious, careful and loving (…) Makes lunch/ Serves the table/ Kisses all over my body, brings beer/ Then kisses me again, washes the dishes/ Turns off and lights my fire”, says an excerpt.
Born in Brasília, daughter of Bahian musician Renato Matos, Flora started playing music early. At 13 she was already participating in rap battles. At 18, she moved to São Paulo in search of building her career.
In 2010, she released the mixtape “Flora Matos Vs. Stereodubs”, which charted on BBC radio in London. But the hit that made her popular in Brazil was “Pretin”, which was part of the soundtrack for “Malhação” (Globo), in 2014. In 2017, she released her first independent album, “Eletrocardiograma”.
The following year, he released “Piloto” as a solo single. In 2020 he released his second album, “Do Lado de Flora” and the following year “Flora de Controle”.
“I’m a living example of a woman who doesn’t shut up.” This is how the singer describes herself in the song “Preta de Quebrada”. Both in her lyrics and in her personal life, Flora is not afraid to fight to defend her ideas and convictions, even if to do so she needs to disagree with colleagues in the artistic world.
That’s how he ended up being branded as a quarrelsome, as he had a lot of beef with Emicida, Anitta, Karol Conká and Luísa Sonza. Even for Mano Brown, there’s already enough left. Remember some of the controversies in which the rapper was involved.

“For me to record with Mano Brown, he would have to choose between having a track with me or a track with Anitta. Both are not possible”, wrote Flora recently, generating a stir on social media.
But the fight between her and the funk singer goes back a long way. At the beginning of her career, Anitta always included the song “Pretin”, Flora’s first hit, in her concert repertoire. At the time, she claimed to be friends with the rapper.
However, when Anitta won the 2023 MTV Music Awards (VMA) for Best Latin Video, Flora didn’t spare her from her sharp tongue.
“They once said that to get to such a place, I had to get close to a person. There are things I hope I never have to do. A person I hope I never need,” Flora wrote on social media.
“She doesn’t want to be compared to someone who came later. She says she did all the shit and so she can’t admit that kind of comparison. She asks what she did for the people who came before her?”, said the singer. Anitta did not respond to the provocations.

During his confinement at BBB 21, Karol Conká told his brothers that he was “bottled in the face” by a rap artist in Brasília. She did not mention names, but on social media, internet users pointed out that Flora was responsible for the attack.
“She threw it in my face and I didn’t do anything. She insulted me on Twitter, made posts, forged flyers. From the beginning of my career she made my life miserable. Think of hell. I lived through hell. And I never said anything. I never responded to the malicious tweets, I stayed here, full”, said Karol.
On X (formerly Twitter), Flora Matos mocked Karol’s accusations and denied the attack. “Guys, please listen to my album and stop listening to Karol Conká’s lies”, she wrote.

Another recent fight between the rapper was with Emicida and his brother, producer Fióti. The confusion occurred amidst the controversy between Juliette and Duda Beat, accused of plagiarizing the work AmarElo, by Emicida, in an advertising campaign they starred in.
Flora, in turn, claimed the original idea for AmarElo based on a post of hers from 2018 — Emicida’s work is from 2019. In the post, the rapper made a kind of concrete poem with an idea similar to Emicida’s work. Angered, Fióti went to his brother’s defense.
“Flora, despite everything, I feel sorry for your disregard for your own mental health,” wrote Fióti. “I already reached out to you and I regret it, but please, go on with your life and forget about us, your conscience knows the truth.”
“I would love to be able to talk about how things really happened in my career and about the number of fake people who pretended to reach out to me when in fact they already had the intention of ‘freezing’ me for their own personal interests. But I can’t” , replied Flora. The debate on social media went far.

Flora’s jab at Luísa Sonza happened after the rapper was supposedly replaced by the blonde in Poesia Acústica, a project that brings together hip hop artists.
“I canceled my participation in Poesia [Acústica] 12, but it was agreed that I would be in 13. For some reason, Pineapple [produtora] He didn’t inform me that I would no longer be in 13. That’s when I knew that Luísa would be. I sent a message, but no response from Pineapple. Did I feel bad? Yes, thank you,” Flora said online.
In the midst of all this, the case of racial insult against Luísa Sonza came to light. Months later, the singer appeared kissing a young black woman in a club. Flora didn’t let it go unnoticed.
“Now there will be racists ‘dating’ black people to make light of reality. Just like a relationship ends because it’s causing a lot of controversy on the internet. I’m not part of that environment and I don’t want to because it’s a lot of falsehood. There’s no way. I stay at home “, he wrote. Luísa did not respond to the criticism.
Wanted by F5 Through her press office, Flora did not comment.
