Comedian Pauly Shore is going to take advantage of his uncanny resemblance to him Richard Simmons and will play the popular gymnast in a new biopic, Variety reports.

The film is being developed by the Warner Bros. subsidiary. The Wolper Organization and during this time the cast is completed.

In a statement, Pauly Shore praised Simmons’ contributions to the field of fitness and overall well-being. “I am truly excited to introduce the life of Richard Simonos to the world” said the actor and comedian.

“We all need this biopic now more than ever. Simmons stood for mental health, getting people in shape and being his original goofy self! Whenever he was on TV you could never take your eyes off him and he brought such joy to his performances that they were enjoyable moments.” he emphasized.

Simmons rose to fame in the 1970s thanks to his Sweatin’ to the Oldies videos and rose to fame after appearing on television and radio shows such as ‘Late Show with David Letterman’, ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ and ‘ The Howard Stern Show’. In 2008, he supported and promoted legislation mandating non-competitive physical education in public schools as part of the No Child Left Behind Act to improve student achievement and change the culture of America’s schools.

In the last decade, however, he has withdrawn from the public eye.
