Biopic on Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis, is being prepared by Universal Pictures. According to “Deadline,” the studio has acquired the rights to Kindiz’s 2005 biopic “Scar Tissue,” which chronicles his childhood, battles with addiction and the creation of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Anthony Kiedis will produce the film alongside longtime Chili Peppers manager Guy Osiri and film and television industry mogul Brian Grazer.

In his biography, the singer of the American rock group refers to his relationship with his father and the death of the first guitarist of the Chili Peppers, Hillel Slovak, from a heroin overdose.

Universal Pictures promises that the adaptation of Kiedis’ memoir will be “a shockingly honest portrait of an artist, addict and leader.”

“I regretted the book a little as it caused some pain. But then, I started to see the long-term positive impact. People read it in hospitals, prisons and schools and it had a positive effect.” the Red Hot Chili Peppers singer said in an interview with The Sun newspaper in 2016.

“I realized that the whole point of writing this book was not about me, but to show that someone can go all the way down and come back and have a productive, successful happy interesting life. And so whatever shame or pain or difficulty or discomfort I went through was worth it because I have so many people coming up to me saying their kids read it and they bounced back because of it.”

The Chili Peppers’ ‘Unlimited Love Tour’ continues on May 28th in Ridgefield, Washington and includes shows in Salt Lake City, Toronto, Buffalo before wrapping up in St. Louis on July 30th. Kid Cudi, Ice Cube, Ken Carson, Otoboke Beaver, Seun Kuti & Egypt80, Wand and IRONTOM will be special guests.
