Saint Hierotheos Bishop of Athens

Saint Hierotheos was a Platonic philosopher and one of the nine members of the Senate Council of the Supreme Court. After accepting and taught Christ’s faith by the Apostle Paul, he was ordained the first bishop of Athens. His disciple was Saint Dionysius the Areopagite, who in his writings knits praise for his teacher.

He fell in peace in deep old age, after a long pastoral and writing activity. His honest cart is kept in the homonymous monastery in Megara Attica. Its remains are also preserved on Mount Athos (St. Pavlos) as well as in the chapel of St. Andrew (Archdiocese of Athens).

Saint Automatic and Callisthenes his daughter

The Apostle (or Adavi) was from Ephesus and was honored by Maximino because he was very prudent and rich. But because Maximinus asked for his daughter Callisthenes for his wife, Autados did not want to give it to a pagan. That is why they grabbed his possessions and exiled him to Melitini, where he was beheaded. And Kallisthenes’ daughter, after being cut and wore men’s clothing, was hiding somewhere in Nicomedia.

After eight years he went to Thrace. There she stayed close to a family, who had a daughter with sick eyes. Callisthenes healed her and her parents asked to marry her with their healed daughter. Then Callisthenes revealed the truth about her and all together after glorying God, she left.

She then met Constantine’s sister, Constantine, and managed not only to take back her father’s property, but also to carry the relic of her Holy Father from Melitini to Ephesus, where she built a temple in his name and laid the holy relic. So, after living the rest of her life, Callisthenes passed away peacefully.
