In the early 40’s, the American Lee Miller (Lee Miller) was a famous model. When World War II broke out, he became a photojournalist for the Allies and worked as a war photographer for Vogue.

With her camera she took “surreal” photos (she was a friend of Picasso after all) and recorded the horrors of war.

On the day Hitler committed suicide in Berlin, April 30, 1945, Miller was in Munich after photographing the liberated Dachau concentration camp.

Miller was sent to Hitler’s apartment in Munich to photograph it. She herself, after doing her work, bathed in the now dead dictator’s bathtub and slept in his bed.

The photo of her in Hitler’s bathtub became one of the famous images of the 20th century.

After the war ended, Miller settled permanently in England with her family but – influenced by what she saw and captured with her lens during the war – suffered from depression.

Lee Miller died of cancer in 1977 at the age of 70.
