Without her characteristic “crown”, this year’s carnival queen in Patras, Georgia Sakka, spoke to ERT about the festive event that will take place this year on March 17 and how she got this enviable position.

“Applications are opened, you send your resume, you go through the Committee together with some other girls who have chosen, and then the final selection is made and they announce it,” said Georgia Sakka, who is originally from Patras.

As he said, he wanted to revive this unique experience after several years of abstinence from the artistic carnival events as he has been living and working in Athens for the last seven years.

“It is a unique experience. It’s not an easy life for anyone. And I was determined this year that I want to do it,” noted the dancer and dance teacher.

Her relationship with the Patrinos Carnival is intense and was activated many times since, among other things, she collaborated in the period 2013-2016 with the 86 crew of Paris Laliotis and Alexis Georgiopoulos participating in artistic events, she participated in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Patrinos Carnival in choreographies by Vikis Agora, but also as a dancer and choreographer’s assistant in the video dance performance “Deja vu”

The 2024 Carnival is expected to be longer in duration with carnival-goers from across the country now gearing up for the group they will be joining.
