Oliver Stone argued that the Ryan Gosling “wasting his time” making movies like “Barbie”. Gosling played Ken in last year’s Greta Gerwig hit film to huge acclaim, including a recent Best Supporting Actor BAFTA nomination.

However, the ‘Platoon’ and ‘JFK’ director criticized the ‘Barbie’ film in an interview with City AM last year. In the interview, which is being reposted online, he made comments when asked about the joke the head of Mattel that Stone should direct “Barbie 2.”

“Ryan Gosling is wasting his time if he’s doing these … for money,” said Oliver Stone. “He should do more serious films. He shouldn’t be part of this infantilization of Hollywood. Now everything is fantasy, fantasy, fantasy, including all war movies: fantasy, fantasy. Even the Fast and Furious movies, which I used to enjoy, have become like Marvel movies. I mean, how many conflicts can you see?’ he reported.

During the interview Oliver Stone also criticized the films of the “John Wick” series.

“On a flight to London I saw ‘John Wick’ for three hours and something. And I fell asleep 778 times during it. I would wake up and see him killing other people. It’s as if the world has degenerated into something illogical,” he said.
