The BBB 24 edition showed a conversation between MC Bin Laden and Luigi on Tuesday (23). The dialogue, however, was not about game strategies.
Inspired by the decor of the gnome room, which features an LED light in the shape of a worm, the two wondered about the animal’s characteristics and discussed whether or not the animal has antennae.
“They put the worm with an antenna,” said Luigi. “But she doesn’t have an antenna? So how does she hear? Is she deaf?”, countered the singer. “They made a mistake, there’s no antenna. When you leave here, you’ll see,” the salesman replied.
In fact, Luigi is right: earthworms don’t have antennae. Biologist Leila Cristina explains that they are annelids, invertebrate animals that have no bones or skeletons and are deaf, blind and mute.
“Earthworms have a rudimentary system, they are primitive. They have a mouth at one end and an anus at the other, but they have taste and touch and it is through them that they orient themselves.”
With these two mechanisms, animals are able to perceive and identify characteristics of the surrounding environment.
“One cool thing about earthworms is that they have the power to regenerate: if you take one and cut it in two, these two parts will be new earthworms”, he adds.
