by

Actor Selton Mello, 51, has always had difficulty sleeping. According to him, one way he found to end the problem was the oil extracted from cannabis.

“Rivotril helped me with that. But, after many years of taking it to sleep, it was already bothering me. I thought: ‘Am I always going to be dependent on this thing?'”, he began in an interview with Veja.

“The CBD [canabidiol] It helped me a lot, I weaned off Rivotril and started using CBD oil to sleep, it’s great. Sometimes, during the day, it’s also good for anxiety or tension before a premiere, for example,” she revealed.

According to the actor’s account, “due to ignorance, carelessness and the pharmaceutical lobby”, many people confuse the use of cannabis with marijuana, but he reinforces it. “I don’t smoke marijuana, I don’t like it. But the oil helps you sleep, to calm you down”, added the artist, adding that if he had had access to this information earlier, perhaps his mother would have benefited from Alzheimer’s.

This issue of the mother’s illness was one of the things that inspired him to write the memoir “I Remember”, released at the end of 2023.

At the height of the pandemic, in 2020, Selton was going through old photos when he realized he was celebrating 40 years as an actor. So he had the idea of inviting 40 people to send him questions, which began to bring the book to life.

Each chapter is based on questions sent by a participant. Among the guests, there are renowned acting figures, such as Nathalia Timberg, Tonico Pereira and Zezé Motta, and actors from the same generation, such as Lázaro Ramos, Matheus Nachtergaele and Rodrigo Santoro. Also in the project are names admired by Selton, with whom he was not close, such as the novelist Jeferson Tenório.
