House of the Dragon star Millie Alcock landed the coveted role of ‘Supergirl’ in the new DC Cinematic Universe led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The Australian actress played the young princess Rhaenyra Targaryenin the first season of HBO’s House of the Dragon, and has also appeared in the series: Upright, Reckoning and The Gloaming.

According to “Deadline,” she won the role from “CODA” star Emilia Jones and Meg Donnelly, who has voiced the character in the DC animated films “Legion of Superheroes” and “Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One.”

Rumor has it that the new Supergirl, before starring in “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,” will first appear in another project, perhaps James Gunn’s “Superman Legacy,” which begins filming immediately.

“This is true. Millie is a tremendously talented young actress and I’m incredibly excited for her to be a part of the new DC Universe.” wrote James Gunn in the caption of his post on Instagram, congratulating the protagonist.

“I first saw her in ‘House of the Dragon,’ but she impressed me in her auditions and auditions for Supergirl,” he added.

In November, it was announced that the screenplay of the film “Woman of Tomorrow” has been undertaken by the playwright Ana Nogueira, while it will be based on the comic book series of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.
