The jazz quartet performs for the first time on stagein arrangements of the songs of the great jazz composer George Gershwin.

The quartet consists of: Katerina Adamopoulou (voice), Dimitris Kalantzi (piano), Giorgos Georgiadis (double bass) and Anastassi Gouliari (drums).

Genius and daring, with notes he “unfolded” in the heart of Harlem…Gershwin ranks among the leading American composers of all time who shaped, and also shaped, jazz during the 1920s in the USA. The multi-dimensional musician and largely self-taught pianist, he combined the technique of classical music with jazz using complex rhythms and unexpected harmonies.

The quartet will present arrangements of selected songs from Gershwin’s timeless legacy, written for musical theater and cinema such as the well-known “Summertime” one of the most important songs from the folk opera “Porgy & Bess”, “Fascinating Rhythm” and “The Man I Love” from the musical “Lady be good”, “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” from the famous movie “Shall we Dance” etc. The musicians attempt to render the “magic” of Gershwin’s compositions through their own modern version where they will bring alive to the public the appreciation for Gershwin’s timeless contribution to the world of music.
