THE Joe Biden will go today to Michigana key state for the presidential election that is also at the center of anger among Arab Americans over the Democratic president’s pro-Israel policies.

THE White House clarified that this is a purely campaign visit, and his campaign team only indicated that Biden will meet with members of the UAW auto workers union in the Detroit area.

The UAW has already asked its members to vote for the Democratic president, an endorsement that weighs heavily in the state of Michigan, the cradle of America’s auto industry.

The state Michigan it is one of the swing states, which may choose either Biden or Donald Trump, the Republican favorite for the nomination, in the November presidential election.

In the 2020 elections the Democrat had narrowly beaten Trump there and hopes to repeat the good result, but this time he must face the wrath of Arab-Americans, many of whom live in Michigan.

Wherever the US president goes now he is confronted by groups of protesters holding Palestinian flags and chanting slogans such as “Genocide Joe”.

His speeches are almost routinely interrupted by pro-Palestinian protesters. On January 23, he was forced to repeatedly stop his speech during an event for the right of women to abortion.

Every vote counts for the Democratic president, because the November election may be decided, as in 2020, by a few thousand votes in key states.

For example in Pennsylvania, a state where many Americans of Arab origin also live, the Joe Biden narrowly won in 2020.
