His tender story is told in the new Disney documentary, the young dancer from Nigeria, who went viral, dancing ballet barefoot in the rain, Anthony Madou.

According to People, in the new Disney documentary, titled “Madu”, is the story of the young dancer from Nigeria who became famous around the world through a 44-second video. It was 2020 when his teacher, Daniel Ajala Owoseni, “discovered” Anthony dancing ballet barefoot, in the rain on a street outside Lagos.

The video went viral on the internet touching everyone’s hearts and thanks to it she received a scholarship to one of the top dance schools in the world, the American Ballet Theatre.

The pre-release documentary on Disney+ will open the 39th Santa Barbara Film Festival on February 7.

“It’s my dream and I have to follow it,” Anthony says in the trailer released, giving a first glimpse of his journey full of courage and dreams during which he had to face many obstacles and unexpected challenges that could affect his future.

Directed by Oscar nominee Matt Ogens and Joel Kachi Benso, who stated that “making Anthony’s voice heard was our ultimate motivation.”

The movie ‘Madu’ will be available on Disney+ from March 29.
