Federal deputy Tabata Amaral (PSB-SP) seemed surprised when she commented on social media about the new look of her boyfriend, João Campos (PSB), mayor of Recife. “My God in heaven,” she reacted to the politician’s newly platinum hair.
At the end of 2023, João Campos accepted a challenge from MC Anderson Neiff, a brega funk artist, to “snow” his hair. Since he made the promise, he has been called out on the streets and on social media, where he is called “my mayor” and receives hits on him daily.
“It’s already snowed,” the 30-year-old politician announced this Friday (8), in a video in which he takes off a hood and shows off his platinum hair.
According to him, the change is not just to celebrate Carnival, but an act of respect and appreciation for peripheral culture, which has “snowy” hair as a trend among young people.
MC Anderson Neiff was pleased to see the challenge accomplished and gave the mayor a pair of glasses like the ones he usually wears. “You are a father,” he said. The two even did dance moves and exchanged compliments.
Alongside Márcio França, João Campos joked that the Minister of Entrepreneurship had already “snowed” his hair and that he was now imitating his party colleague. “It snowed a while ago, but it was on other occasions,” replied the gray-haired politician.
The mayor’s brother, Pedro Campos, also joined and bleached his hair.
Son of former governor Eduardo Campos, who died in a plane crash in 2014, the mayor posted a video this week in which his father appears dancing frevo at the opening of the Pernambuco Carnival, alongside an orchestra.
“We’re going to maintain that same drive and excitement,” he said.
