Jennifer Lopez is facing backlash after allegedly being paid to attend and appear at a hotel presentation in “anti-gay” Dubai, as the “Daily Mail” writes.

The 54-year-old superstar – who has long been considered an ally of the LGBTQ+ community – pcaused a stir after pocketing $5 million to appear at the One&Only One Za’abeel hotel, according to the Sun.

The luxury hotel is located in the United Arab Emirates, which has strict laws against homosexuality. Taking to her Instagram Stories, the famous singer posted a video from the star-studded party, where she wowed on stage in a dazzling purple jumpsuit and performed alongside Mark Ronson for an audience that included Vanessa Hudgens and Idris Elba.

“It’s very sad that a longtime LGBTQ ally like Jennifer Lopez is willing to put money over human rights.”said the gay rights activist, Peter Tatche.

“Her performance will be identified with the regime’s homophobia, misogyny and general abuse of human rights – that is not what Jennifer Lopez stands for. He shouldn’t have gone.”

He went on to argue that Dubai’s regime “he uses it to project a more liberal image”. “It’s a cynical exercise and it’s a shame she goes along with it,” he added.
