LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

IN THE FOREST OF FAIRY TALES

Directed by: Elena Mavridou

Little Red Riding Hood in the forest of fairy tales, an original rendition of the favorite fairy tale of young and old, premieres on the children’s stage of Gioulis Iliopoulou at Ideal on Sunday, February 20, directed by Elena Mavridou. A modern, magical and fairytale world comes to take the whole family on a journey full of humor and emotion, which will overturn all the stereotypes of the famous story.

Little Red Riding Hood crosses the forest of fairy tales. On her way she meets flying fish, a karate hunting teacher, dolls wearing masks, and a wolf dancer! It does not matter who is afraid. She knows that if she understands her fear and embraces him, he will give up. She slowly learns that through her contact with all the heroes of the fairy tale, even with the “evil” wolf, she will move more maturely on the path of adulthood. As long as she believes in herself. After all, how bad is the wolf (hidden inside us)? Accompanying her on this journey are the young spectators, who actively participate throughout the show, helping the little heroine to avoid misfortunes and discover the true meaning of her journey. Only hope for the future can support her in the adversity she encounters. And young children are always her best ambassadors.

Inside each tale lives a question. And the questions that remain timeless, also signal the value of the fairy tales they posed. Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale has its roots in European folk tales of Northern and Central Europe. It is estimated that there are at least 70 variations of history around the world. With references to Charles Perrault, the Grimm brothers, the historian Andrew Lang, the writer Egbert of Liege, Little Red Riding Hood in the Forest of Fairy Tales, performed and directed by Elena Mavridou, is a play starring the theatrical masons and the masquerades. Four actors on stage embody all the heroes of the fairy tale, while all together as puppets they play Little Red Riding Hood, as they handle a large Bunraku doll. Through the live narration, the show comes to inspire young and old, presenting a miniature of a person’s life, helping young children overcome their fears by recognizing them. Encouraging them to walk with hope and to constantly discover themselves with faith and love.
