Famous and friends of Brazilian journalist and critic Arnaldo Jabor spoke out about his death at the age of 81. The carioca had been hospitalized since December 17 at Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in São Paulo, after suffering a stroke. According to the family, the cause of death was complications from the stroke.
Actress and comedian Dadá Coelho was one of the first to leave her support. “Arnaldo Jabor is gone. My condolences to his family, friends,” she wrote. Drummer for Paralamas do Sucesso, João Barone wrote that “Arnaldo Jabor, always brilliant and incisive, will be greatly missed”.
Journalist Rodrigo Bocardi gave his testimony during the command of a chat between Bom Dia SP and Bom Dia Brasil and revealed that he had several conversations with Jabor in the late hours of Globo and that he came up with his comments at the time, almost impromptu.
Presenter Britto Jr. commented that Jabor “made art, was critical and will be missed”. In addition to him, names such as actress Fernanda Paes Leme also spoke. “Rest in peace, Arnaldo Jabor”, posted the actress.
The presenter of RedeTV! Sonia Abrão commented on the loss: “Another light that goes out! Brazil increasingly in the dark!”, she published her. Actor José de Abreu also lamented: “Rest in peace, Jabor”.
At the end of December, a medical report indicated that Jabor had progressively improved his neurological condition and was conscious. On Tuesday morning, film producer Suzana Villas Boas, Jabor’s ex-wife and mother of his son, wrote “Jabor became a star, my son lost his father, and Brazil lost a great Brazilian” on a social network. According to advisors, Jabor still leaves an unpublished film.
The filmmaker and journalist became best known for his comments on TV Globo news since the 1990s. But his first vocation was as a filmmaker, trained during the 1960s under the new cinema environment – which sought to bring the reality of the Brazil to the big screen.
