Fifteen EU-backed films are nominated in various categories at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), which opened today and runs until 24 February.
The films, ‘Another End’, ‘Architecton’ and ‘Des Teufels Bad’, have been shortlisted for the competition section, where they will compete for the Golden and Silver Bears. Another 12 films are nominated for various other Berlinale awards as well as independent awards from side events of the festival. All these films were financed by the MEDIA strand of the “Creative Europe” programme, with around 700,000 euros. The awards will be announced at the closing ceremony on February 24.
In parallel with the festival, the “European Film Market” trade fair is organized, where the Commission will be present for discussions and exchange of views with important market players and beneficiaries. On Saturday 17 February, the Commission is organizing a roundtable discussion entitled ‘Preparing the ground for a thriving European content ecosystem’, which will bring together European broadcasters and producers to explore the opportunities of the European market.
