During a U2 concert at the Las Vegas Globe, Bono gave an impassioned pro-Ukraine, anti-Putin speech
Bono paid tribute to Alexei Navalny during a recent concert of U2 at The Globe in Las Vegason Saturday, February 17, with videos of the moment making the rounds online.
It was just before they began his execution “Don’t Dream It’s Over” of Crowded House, when Bono paid tribute to the Russian opposition leader, who was incarcerated in a Russian prison and died suddenly on Friday, February 16.
“Edge and I managed to get together with some people in Ukraine as they stood in that train station, which was a converted bomb shelter, waiting for the train to arrive with the rest of the free world,” he began his speech to the Bono crowd. “Some people are still waiting for this train to arrive. America, you are so generous…but let’s give these people what they need”.
Bono chanted Alexei Navalny’s name with the audience during his concert in Las Vegas.

“Next week marks two years since Putin invaded and tried to destroy hard-won freedoms [του ουκρανικού λαού]”, he added. “Then it will be Poland, then Lithuania, East Germany – who knows where this man will or will not go.”
