When her husband, Davi Brito, joined BBB 24, Mani Rego didn’t expect that he would enjoy fame. Sudden success is something that the entrepreneur, owner of a snack stand in Salvador, is still learning to deal with. “I keep waking up at five in the morning to open my business,” she says.
In an interview with F5, Mani reveals that he proposed to Davi to enter the single reality show. “I sat down with him and said: ‘I’m going to cry, but I’m going to understand. There will be several women there, if you want to go in single, I’ll give up on our relationship, and when you leave, if we’re still interested in continuing , we continued. He replied clearly: ‘I’m going to enter married and I’m going to leave married'”, he says.
Secure and confident in her husband, Mani does not allow herself to be shaken by the malicious comments involving Isabelle, the only person in the game with whom Davi maintains a friendly relationship. “Nobody is forced to be with anyone. And as he said inside, he is a man of values and doesn’t ignore them for anything”, he says.
Together for a year and eight months, the couple has a relationship of “a lot of companionship and complicity”, describes the entrepreneur. What is most “getting” for her is the longing, as the two work together and are used to spending the day side by side.
“The only difficult thing about this whole story is the longing, which is so great. That’s what hurts. Of course, money is important, it will be able to change our difficult reality, help our family, but it’s a lot of longing”, he melts .
AGERISM AND MACHISM
A victim of ageism and machismo on social media, Mani admits that she was shaken, at first, by the malicious comments she suffered. She was attacked for being 42 years old and loving Davi, 21. “The age difference was never an issue in our relationship, nor in our family. When I told my mother that I met him, and he was 19 at the time, she he said: ‘Hey, what’s wrong?'”, recalls Mani, who overnight came across aggressive comments on his Instagram profile.
“At first I cried a lot, because people don’t know our story, they don’t know me, and they think that the internet is no man’s land, that they can go to my profile and offend me”, he says. “And the majority are women, they are the first to attack. That’s the saddest thing. Women who come to my social network say that I’m old, fat and that he’s going to leave me”, he reports.
Mani defines herself as shy and averse to social media, but decided to go public at the suggestion of her sister, to defend herself from insults. As an unexpected return, she has received affection from women who have sought her out, virtually and in person, at her snack stand, to open up about similar situations.
“I’m managing to change a little of some women’s stories, I think that’s the cool thing. People identify with each other, they want to exchange experiences”, she says.
TENT BECAME A DISCUSSION POINT
Used to sleeping and waking up early, Mani doesn’t even need to watch BBB to stay up to date with all of her husband’s steps: her snack stand has practically become a pilgrimage point for Davi’s fans and a point of discussion about the reality show. “Sales have increased, people show up to try the X-Calabreso and to discuss BBB”, she celebrates.
When remembering the rejection her husband suffered and the day he considered pressing the quit button, she becomes anguished: “I was feeling his suffering from here, I thought he was going to give up. He was very excluded, people don’t respond or a ‘good morning'”, he laments.
If the R$3 million comes, Mani won’t even consider stopping working. “He’s good at business, I think we’re going to expand, open another snack bar, restaurant. Keep working, especially because three million isn’t three billion”, he jokes.
