The American presenter and author, Wendy Williams, was diagnosed with the same form of dementia that he suffers from Bruce Willisaccording to a statement issued by her team of caregivers, AP reports.

The statement noted, among other things, that Williams’ diagnosis of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia “has already presented significant barriers to her life” and is affecting her behavior and memory.

The news comes a day after the People magazine cover story, in which her family says the star is in a care facility at an undisclosed location.

“As her fans know, she has previously been open to the public about her struggles with Graves’ disease and lymphedema, as well as other significant health-related challenges,” the presenter’s care team said in a statement, explaining that the diagnosis confirmed by “a series of medical tests” last year.

“The decision to share this news was difficult and was made after careful consideration, not only to promote understanding and compassion for Wendy, but to raise public awareness of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and support the thousands of others who face similar situations…most importantly she maintains her trademark sense of humor and takes the care she needs to make sure she is protected and her needs are met” is underlined.

Williams, who will celebrate her 60th birthday in July, began her career as a radio DJ and hosted the popular “Wendy Williams Show” from 2008 to 2021. He left for health reasons.
