Statue of the late leader of Motörhead, Lemmy Kilmister, will be erected in his birthplace, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trend in England.

Plans for the 2.25m bronze sculpture have been approved, according to the BBC, despite police concerns that the statue could create a “well-intentioned but potentially attention-grabbing incident” – namely revelers climbing the plinth for to take pictures with Lemmy or cause vandalism. The statue is located in Barslem Market.

Sculptor Andy Edwards will create the Staffordshire clay statue having previously created sculptures of footballers Brian Clough and Peter Taylor in Derby and The Beatles at Liverpool’s Pier Head.

The artist depicts Lemmy in his iconic stage pose, singing with his head held high and the microphone placed unusually high above him.

After concerns from local authorities, Edwards agreed to increase the height of the statue’s pedestal from 2.5m to 3m and its material has also been changed from black granite to sandstone, fitting the former town hall’s proximity.
