The Spring Festival returns in April (8-20/4) at Megaros
New and well-established series of events, brilliant soloists of the new generation, as well as established artists, internationally renowned ensembles and chamber music groups, top conductors of global influence and famous dance groups are combined in the artistic programming of the Athens Concert Hall, in the last quarter of the season 2023- 2024.
The Spring Festival returns in April (8-20/4) to the Megaro, with big names from the international music and dance scene: the Milan Scala String Quartet and the virtuoso pianist Alasdair Beetson (8 /4), organist Winfried Beining (9/4), the Batsheva Ensemble (12-14/4), violinist Janine Jansen and pianist Denis Kazuhin (16/4) as well as the Chamber Orchestra of Europe under Constantinos Karydis (20/4).

In the same month (27-28/4), “The weekend of wind instruments” is organized for the first time at the Megaro, which gives the public the rare opportunity to hear, in a two-day period, well-known and lesser-known brass and woodwind instruments: flute of Panos, flute, trumpet, oboe, bassoon, tuba. Participating soloists: Matthais Kune, Nikos Nikopoulos, Simon Haifele, Yiannis Oikonomou, Alexandros Oikonomou, Austen Bondsvik.
Also in April (30/4), great soloists join forces with the State Orchestra of Athens to present at the Megaro, as part of the Adagio cycle, the “Mathaeon Passions”, the insurmountable masterpiece of Johann Sebastian Bach, in a semi-directed animated version (co-production: KOA ‒ Athens Concert Hall).
In May, the successful series “Greek Soloists” welcomes pianists Dora Bakopoulou and Achillea Vastor (15/5) as well as Timotheo Gavrielides-Petrin (cello) and Vassilis Varvaresos (piano) to the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall (22/5).

One week later (28.05), the Hellenic Youth Symphony Orchestra ‒ Youth Orchestra in Residence of the Megaros collaborates with the distinguished violin and viola conductor and soloist Michael Barenboim. In May, the second meeting of the new series of events “Rixikeleuthos” is still planned, with Stathis Kalyvas as the initiator, which focuses on innovation and creativity (31/5).
The artistic season 2023-2024 closes with one of the greatest masterpieces of world drama, the play “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare (16-20/5), in a modern version, with the collaboration of Greek and Turkish artists, which conveys the action in today’s Balkans, where two families, the Greek Capulets and the Turkish Montagues, live together, unfortunately not always peacefully. The Shakespearean text was translated into Greek by Giorgos Blanas, and into Turkish by Özdemir Nutku. The direction is signed by Lefteris Yovanidis. Also, for one more season, the Megaro gives a stage to the young students of the Drama School of the Athens Conservatory, who present on 7 and 8/6, in the Substage B of the Alexandra Triantis Hall, Anton Chekhov’s “Three Sisters”, translated by Alexandros Isaris-Giorgos Depastas and directed by Thodoris Ambazis. The dramaturgy, scenography, music editing and original music are by the Graduate Student Group of the Drama School of the Athens Conservatory.
