Passenger traffic “took off” last month at our country’s airports, recording a 223.6% increase in passenger traffic compared to January last year.
The provisional statistics of the CAA for the passenger traffic of the airports in January 2022 show the following:
The total number of passengers handled amounted to 1,249,387 passengers, an increase of 223.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2021 where 386,130 passengers had been handled due to restrictions due to Covid-19.
In terms of flights to all airports in the country amounted to 18,218, of which 11,314 were domestic and 6,904 international, showing an increase of 70.1%, compared to the corresponding period of 2021 where 10,708 flights were operated.
According to the statistics for the month of January, a large increase is recorded in the arrivals of foreign passengers + 350.5%.
In particular, for the arrivals of passenger flights in January 2022 we had an increase of 350.5% corresponding to 271,796 passengers, compared to January 21 που when the arrivals abroad were 60,328 passengers.
According to the CAA, comparing the statistics with January 2019, when the flights were 22,219, this year in January there is a drop of -18% in aircraft traffic.
In the total passenger traffic that was 2,135,674 in January 2019, now for the same month there is a drop of -41.5%.
