UEFA appointed the Swiss referee Urs Schneider to direct the away match between Olympiakos and Barcelonafor the 3rd matchday of the League Phase of the Champions League, at the “Montjuic” stadium.
The 35-year-old referee is familiar to the Greek publicas he has managed several club and national team matches in recent years.
Snyder’s assistants are his compatriots Marco and Benjamin Zircher4th referee o Lukas FedrichVAR o Fendai Shan and AVAR the Croat Ivan Bebek.
Snyder has been found many times in games of Greek interest. In the 2019/20 season, he managed a Greek club match for the first time, in Atromitos – Olympiakos 0-1 for the 23rd matchday of the Stoiximan Super League (9/2/2020). In October 2024, he was a referee at PAOK – Plzen (2-2) for the League Phase of the Europa League. This year (2025), the whistle blew again for a Greek team, Hapoel Ber Sheva – AEK 0-0, for the 2nd qualifying phase of the Conference League.
The Swiss referee has officiated two matches of the Men’s National Team:
• Greece – Finland 3-0 for the Nations League.
• Greece – Honduras 2-1 (friendly, March 2021).
Also, in November 2019, he blew the whistle on the National Team of Hope, which had been defeated 2-5 by Iceland for the Euro U21 qualifiers.
