The first place is occupied by Alonissos in the list of the best destinations for authentic travel experiences, according to the French newspaper “Le Figaro”.

As emphasized at the beginning of the article, “in Greece, each island reveals its treasures through its own rhythm. Our suggestion for this year is to escape from the Cyclades and the crowds, discovering something new beyond the trivial.”

At the top of the list is Alonissos about which the extensive tribute states how “It is a “temple” of diving with a heavenly seabed, ancient wrecks and an excellent marine ecosystem. The island is equally impressive above the water with pine forests, picturesque villages and fairy-tale houses”. The list of “Le Figaro” is completed by Chios, Kythira, Kefalonia and Patmos.

It is noted that there was an informational effort by the Municipality for promotion in France. “Our goal is to establish ourselves in new markets with remarkable dynamics such as French travelers who in recent years have taken advantage of the new direct flights to Sporades to enjoy different aspects of Alonissos such as activities, absolute relaxation, local cuisine and sightseeing”points out the President of the Tourist Committee of the Municipality of Alonissos, Konstantinos Hlivas. In the same spirit, Alonissos has recently been the focus of interest from the German newspaper Die Welt, which calls the island “an ideal place for nature lovers” and ranks it at the top of the Greek destinations that will stand out in 2024.
